Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer (RAPTOR) to lead design, development, and testing of all facets of the additive process with emphasis on machines, software, part design and analysis.

The role requires collaboration with design and materials teams, developing optimal print parameters, heat treatments, and manufacturability for titanium or nickel-based alloys, while advancing safety and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of professional hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing, and/or project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive and identify projects to make printer platforms more robust and repeatable.
• Contribute within a team of engineers on additive processes using powder-bed and powder-fed approaches.
• Identify and implement process improvement efforts across the additive workflow.
• Advise with design team to optimize features for additive manufacturing.
• Generate/optimize build files for high-quality parts with speed and consistency.
• Work with materials engineers on print parameters, heat treatments, and alloy design allowances.
• Develop and maintain systems to collect and analyze process data with minimal burden.
• Develop and document best practices on new equipment and processes.
• Identify and implement safety improvements throughout the additive process.
