Job summary

Chime is seeking experienced engineers to join the Membership team in San Francisco, owning projects end-to-end from architecture to polished UI, and maintaining code health across the stack.

You will collaborate with product, design, data science, and cross-functional partners to ship data-driven solutions that deepen member engagement and drive retention, with a focus on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years developing software in a production environment at scale.
• Proven experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks.
• Proficiency with modern front-end technologies (React/React Native/TypeScript).
• A product mindset with bias toward experimentation and impact measurement.
• Collaborative cross-functional work and strong communication skills.
• Experience with transactional databases, caching systems, and API design.
• Comfort working across the stack and understanding how components fit together.
• Experience with experimentation frameworks and data-driven product development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and scale features across backend services and front-end surfaces for membership benefits, rewards, and engagement.
• Build and iterate on APIs and UI components for a seamless member experience in Chime's mobile app.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, and cross-functional teams to understand member needs and define experiments.
• Apply a metrics-driven mindset to prioritize work based on member and business impact.
• Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and scalability across the stack.
• Contribute to technical excellence through mentoring, code reviews, and best practices.
