Sofar is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to advance maritime route optimization, vessel performance modeling, and voyage analysis for U.S. Government and defense customers.

This hands-on role focuses on developing algorithms, simulation tooling, and explainable route recommendations, using Rust and Python across both high- and low-level software layers. Collaborate with engineers and domain experts to translate real-world maritime problems into robust, defendable software

Formación

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production-grade contributions.
• Experience with Python and/or a compiled language such as Rust, C++, or similar.
• Comfortable translating domain problems into maintainable software.
• Strong communication and collaboration across disciplines.
• Experience supporting U.S. Government or DoD customers is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Maritime voyage optimization and route evaluation.
• Model vessel performance and fuel consumption across conditions.
• Develop optimization algorithms and supporting software.
• Build simulation and evaluation tooling to understand optimizer behavior.
• Produce clear, explainable results for users evaluating recommendations.
