Job summary

Lambda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our Mk8s team, shaping architecture, reliability, and automation of Kubernetes-based infrastructure powering AI workloads. You will help build a purpose-built, bare-metal AI cloud platform and coordinate with NVIDIA and internal teams across the stack.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering with ownership of significant scope
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes controllers, schedulers, CRDs, CSI, CNI
• Solid distributed systems fundamentals: fault tolerance and graceful degradation
• Experience operating control plane components of large-scale Kubernetes clusters
• Experience with observability at scale: Prometheus, Grafana, tracing, alerting
• Strong Go and Python programming skills; collaboration across codebases
• Solid Linux, networking, containers, and cloud infrastructure knowledge

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable control plane services, operators, and custom Kubernetes controllers; develop automation in Go/Python for end-to-end cluster lifecycle management
• Build GPU-aware orchestration systems supporting GPU scheduling and resource allocation
• Collaborate with the Network team on networking solutions for AI workloads (CNI, InfiniBand, RDMA, GPUDirect)
• Write resilient systems handling timeouts, retries, backoff, and degraded-mode operation across large-scale environments
• Develop platform services for inference: model serving, autoscaling, multi-model deployment patterns
• Build internal tools and CLIs to deploy and monitor inference services
• Support and debug production issues through on-call rotation
