Job summary

Lambda is building a GPU-accelerated Kubernetes-based AI cloud orchestration platform. The Senior Software Engineer will shape architecture, reliability, and automation for Kubernetes-based infrastructure powering AI workloads at scale.

This role requires four days in the office across San Francisco, San Jose, or Bellevue, with a Tuesday work-from-home day. You will work on Managed Kubernetes, GPU scheduling, and multi-service orchestration to deliver a world-class AI cloud platform.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of significant scope
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals including controllers, schedulers, CRDs, and CSI/CNI extensions
• Strong foundation in distributed systems, fault tolerance, and large-scale failure handling
• Experience operating control plane and low-level pieces of large Kubernetes clusters
• Observability expertise with Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing, and alerting systems
• Proficiency in Go and Python; collaboration on shared codebases
• Solid knowledge of Linux, networking, containers, and cloud infrastructure
• Experience building and operating managed Kubernetes services or related platform components

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable control plane services and operators
• Develop GPU-aware orchestration features for Kafka-like workloads?
• Partner with networking teams on high-performance AI networking solutions
• Develop platform services for inference including model serving and autoscaling
• Build internal tools and CLIs for ML/AI teams to deploy and monitor inference services
• Support and debug production issues through on-call rotation
