Job summary

Natera is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead design, development, and maintenance of the LIMS application and related software in Austin, TX. You will be a primary technical lead for the Software Engineering group, guiding engineers and Technical Product Managers and translating complex biology workflow requirements into reliable, scalable Java solutions.

Qualifications

• BS degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 10+ years of software development experience, preferably building complex data or process management applications.
• 10+ years of experience with Java OO programming, using Spring Frameworks and Hibernate.
• 10+ years of experience with web services (REST), XML/JSON, and relational databases like Oracle.
• Excellent communication.
• Commitment to diversity in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements with stakeholders and users.
• Translate requirements into reliable and extensible Java applications.
• Collaborate with engineering team on key design and implementation decisions.
• Understand end-to-end LIMS workflows in multi-product labs.
• Assess LIMS platform features and propose trade-off driven solutions.
• Leverage existing functionality to focus on unmet needs.
• Integrate enterprise systems to streamline business processes.
• Improve development processes and evangelize best practices.
• Develop and maintain automated tests.
