Job summary

Personalis in Fremont, CA seeks a Sr. Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain LIMS systems.

You will own feature development for existing systems and new cloud-based platforms, collaborating with senior engineers to deliver scalable solutions for regulated laboratory operations. You will design backend services in Python/Java, work with relational and graph databases, and deploy services on AWS, contributing to design reviews and documentation while ensuring quality and

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Java.
• Proven experience building and deploying applications on AWS.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and developing REST APIs.
• Experience with version control and CI/CD concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software systems and features supporting laboratory operations.
• Develop and optimize backend services and APIs using Python and/or Java.
• Implement solutions using relational and graph databases.
• Take ownership of deploying and maintaining services in our AWS cloud environment.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in development and production environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
