Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Libraries Platform to lead architecture and implementation of the platform that powers our secure, reproducible open-source library factory.

You’ll design shared services, packaging pipelines, and a package index, build internal developer tools (Go-based CLIs), and drive reliability, observability, and scalability across ecosystems in a remote-friendly, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years designing, building, and operating infrastructure for language ecosystems or developer platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang).
• Proven track record building developer tooling and automation (plugins, CLIs, code generators).
• Deep experience with CI/CD, cloud-native infra, and IaC (Docker/Kubernetes, public cloud, Terraform, GitHub Actions/Argo/Tekton).
• Ability to debug complex toolchain, compiler, packaging, and infra failures in production.
• Excellent communication in remote environments with a bias toward documentation and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain automation for artifact creation, updates, and verification, including vulnerability scanning and SBOM generation.
• Develop AI-assisted patching capabilities and verify results for security fixes.
• Build and operate shared platform services such as package indexes, registry mirrors, and orchestration tooling.
• Develop internal developer tools and CLIs that improve build/test/ship processes across ecosystems.
• Drive reliability, observability, and define SLOs; lead incident response and post-incident improvements.
• Resolve complex dependency and build issues in production, from toolchains to CI/CD edge cases.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and documentation to codify the team's culture.
