Job summary

DigitalOcean seeks a Senior Software Engineer I to build high-throughput distributed control plane services using Go and microservices. You will mentor engineers and drive execution across core infrastructure powering cloud compute services.

You’ll lead complex projects from design to release, design scalable interfaces (gRPC/REST), and help optimize pipelines and on-call reliability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Go, microservices architecture and building distributed control plane systems or low-latency infrastructure APIs.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, concurrency patterns and network performance tuning in Linux environments.
• Ability to lead complex projects, break problems into deliverable features, and mentor engineers to drive team efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance distributed control plane services using Go to ensure low-latency orchestration across core compute infrastructure.
• Lead technical execution for complex project workstreams from design to release to deliver on schedules.
• Develop scalable microservice interfaces using gRPC and REST to maintain reliable service contracts across distributed systems.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance and code reviews to raise quality.
• Troubleshoot and optimize distributed systems edge cases and bottlenecks to improve resilience and uptime.
• Identify architectural inefficiencies and refine build pipelines and service boundaries.
• Participate in on-call operations and system monitoring to ensure high availability.
