Job summary

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Engineer I, Compute to join their cloud infrastructure team. You will design and implement high-performance distributed control plane services, lead complex initiatives, and mentor junior engineers while building core infra products powering their cloud platform.

You will work with Go, Kubernetes, and modern cloud-native tech to deliver low-latency, fault-tolerant orchestration across core compute infrastructure, while driving scalability and platform resilience.

Qualifications

• Experience with Go, microservices, and distributed control plane systems or low-latency APIs.
• Containerization, virtualization, or cloud-native infra tech such as Kubernetes or Firecracker.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and Linux network performance.
• Ability to lead projects, break problems into features, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance distributed control plane services using Go.
• Lead technical execution for complex projects from design to release.
• Develop scalable microservice interfaces via gRPC and REST.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Solve edge cases in distributed systems to maximize uptime and resilience.
• Participate in on-call support and monitoring to troubleshoot incidents.
