Job summary

Waystar is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust software applications for cloud-based tools. You will work across the full SDLC, ensuring code quality through reviews and mentoring junior engineers.

The role emphasizes scalable, high-performance systems, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and staying current with industry trends to implement innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of OO programming, data structures, algorithms and patterns.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with API design (REST/GraphQL).
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React/Angular/Vue) if applicable.
• Experience with Git and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to ensure quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex defects and production issues.
• Contribute to architectural design and technical direction of systems.
• Participate in full SDLC from requirements to support.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote continuous learning.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and security.
