Job summary

Waystar in Lehi, UT is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable applications. You will mentor junior engineers, participate in the full SDLC, and contribute to architectural direction while focusing on performance and security.

The ideal candidate holds a CS/Software Eng degree with 5+ years of experience in distributed systems, API design, and modern stacks. On-site collaboration with cross-functional teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with API design (REST/GraphQL).
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks if applicable.
• Experience with Git and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications using modern technologies.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews for quality and knowledge sharing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex defects and production issues.
• Contribute to architectural direction of systems.
• Participate in full software development lifecycle from requirements to support.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster learning within the team.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends; propose innovative solutions.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and security of applications.
