Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Growth to build and maintain internal platforms for audience targeting and CRM campaigns. The role reports to headquarters in San Francisco but is remote with flexible work locations.

You will develop scalable software, design targeting features, and optimize data pipelines while collaborating across teams to drive growth and performance across markets. Strong data engineering and big data experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
• 2 years of experience in the job offered or related.
• 2 years of experience with Java, Ruby, Python, or similar languages.
• 2 years of experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or similar data management systems.
• 2 years of experience with client/server architectures and application architectures.
• 2 years of experience with distributed codebases on cross-functional teams.
• 2 years of experience with data streaming and big data technologies including Apache Spark, Airflow, Hadoop, or similar.
• Note: In lieu of a Bachelor's degree... at least 4 years of experience in the job offered or related.

Responsibilities

• Developing highly scalable software with robust upgrade paths.
• Designing and implementing targeting features using demographic, intent, and behavioral signals.
• Building intuitive UIs for configuring offers, segments, and content.
• Analyzing and optimizing expensive SQL queries.
• Building large scale data pipelines and modeling user data.
• Executing ongoing testing and performance analysis of systems.
• Determining design solutions to problematic programming.
• Other duties as assigned.
