Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Paid MarTech pod—driving the team’s architectural roadmap and tooling choices. You’ll collaborate with senior Product and Marketing leaders to shape scalable, observable systems and ensure code quality across the platform.

You will mentor engineers, improve processes, and help steer cross-functional initiatives that align with business goals while maintaining security and cost discipline.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of software engineering experience with leadership in roadmaps.
• Expert-level Python with reusable abstractions and patterns.
• Experience building scalable, high-throughput systems with observability, cost efficiency, and security.
• Ability to partner with senior Product and Marketing leaders to influence product roadmap.
• Proven track record of enhancing team productivity through mentorship and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Drive the team's technical roadmap and architectural decisions for reusable, scalable systems.
• Improve developer productivity by evolving processes, tools, and abstractions across the codebase.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and collaborate with Product and Marketing on design decisions.
• Champion observability, resilience, cost optimization, and security-by-design principles across projects.
• Mentor engineers up to senior levels and resolve conflicts that block execution.
