Job summary

Amazon Seattle is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for Neptune to design and deliver algorithms and features that boost high availability, reliability, and performance of the graph database service.

You will lead design discussions, mentor engineers, and work cross-functionally to build scalable solutions for a large customer base, while practicing rigorous code reviews and automation to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or in a leadership role within an engineering team.
Knowledge of database internals, query planning and optimization, and/or storage performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver new algorithms and features to enhance Neptune's high availability, reliability, and performance guarantees.
Participate in project execution to develop database service capabilities with a focus on scalability and fault tolerance.
Build high‑impact solutions for a large customer base, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
Engage in design discussions, code reviews, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Work cross‑functionally to provide technical input that drives business decisions.
Implement automation and other improvements to increase efficiencies and resolve root causes of software defects.
Operate in a startup‑like development environment, prioritizing the most critical work.
