Job summary

RTX is seeking a software engineer to develop RT embedded software for radar modes, contribute across the full SDLC, and mentor teammates on key tasks. The role requires a STEM degree, 5+ years of experience, and an active Secret clearance.

Successful candidates will work onsite at the El Segundo campus, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and support program reviews with strong technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with at least five years of software development experience.
• Experience coding in C/C++/ADA or related languages across the SDLC.
• Experience with UNIX, Linux, Windows, and RTOS such as VxWorks.

El Segundo, CA (Onsite at campus)

Security Clearance

U.S. citizenship required. Active and transferable Secret clearance required prior to start date. Must be able to obtain Special Access Programs (SAP/SAR).

What You Will Do

• Work on complex technical problems and provide highly innovative solutions.
• Contribute at all phases of the software development lifecycle, including software/hardware integration.
• Develop RT embedded software for various radar modes and capabilities.
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues to assess problems and develop solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams, internally and externally.
• Support program and customer meetings/reviews and provide technical decision‑making support.
• Perform technical leadership roles for at least one key task or line item on programs.
• Mentor at least one engineer on programs in areas of knowledge and expertise.
• Help ensure performance to technical, cost, schedule, quality goals.
• Assist in requirements and architecture generation and analysis as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of five years of relevant software development experience.
• Experience coding in C/C++/ADA or related languages across the SDLC.
• Experience with UNIX, Linux, Windows, VxWorks or other RTOS.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team with typical Agile tools.
• Active and transferable U.S. Government‑issued Secret security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship (necessary for security clearance).

Qualifications We Prefer

• Current Top Secret clearance.
• Experience developing radar software applications.
• Direct experience with Agile methodologies.
• Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills for tool and system performance issues.
• Experience with large complex airborne radar systems.

Salary Range

$95,500 USD – $181,700 USD.
