Job summary

KBR’s National Security Solutions team in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to design, develop, test and deploy software for advanced defense systems. You'll implement Agile practices, lead junior engineers, and collaborate across hardware, software, and data analytics teams to meet mission requirements.

Active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required; a B.S. in CS/Engineering and DoD 8570 IAT Level II+ certification are expected. This is a contingent position anticipated upon award.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
• DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher: (CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, CCNA OR SSCP).
• 10+ years in software development with DevOps, CI/CD, containers, orchestration and cloud tech.
• Experience with Web Services and JavaScript (ReactJS).
• Container-based application development experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on experience with Java, C/C++, and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, maintain and quality-control software for scientific/engineering apps.
• Define system and software requirements and obtain customer approval.
• Analyze requirements and translate into design; create prototypes.
• Apply Agile tools to manage work and collaborate with teams (Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket).
• Improve performance metrics through planning and task execution.
• Respond to software discrepancies against requirements and fix issues.
• Lead junior engineers and define software requirements with team.
• Generate design language and code per department standards.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems for customers.
• Ensure maintainability and adherence to user requirements.
