Job summary

KBR Careers is seeking a Jr. Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to design, develop, implement, maintain and test software for scientific and engineering applications. You will create prototypes, test software, and document project progress.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance and a BA/BS in CS or related field (0–3 years) or equivalent experience. You will work with engineers across multiple missions, contributing to mission-critical systems and documentation.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance and the ability to successfully obtain a CI Polygraph.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and 0–3 years of related experience, or AA in related field and 3 years of related experience; in lieu of formal education, 10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Create prototypes and perform internal testing of software products.
• Respond to software discrepancies against documented requirements and provide resolution.
• Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements.
• Generate program design language and code based on mission standards.
• Generate/update project documents.
• Analyze and evaluate systems, devising computer specifications for scientific/engineering applications.
• Encode, test, debug, and install operating programs and procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers in the design, development, and utilization of scientific/engineering electronic data processing systems software.
• Provide analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software for products such as utility software, development software, and diagnostic software.
• Participates in the development of engineering test strategies, devices and systems.
• Performs all other duties as assigned
