Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer - Software for the Hauppauge, NY or Austin, TX locations.

You will lead the design, development, and integration of Ethernet NIC drivers across Linux, QNX, Windows, and RTOS platforms, partnering with hardware, firmware, and validation teams worldwide. You’ll tackle architecture, performance, and reliability challenges while collaborating with distributed teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CE/EE/CS with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing embedded software and device drivers for multiple OS.
• Strong C/C++ skills; Python experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and maintain Ethernet NIC drivers for Linux, Windows, QNX, and RTOS platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, validation, and support teams across locations.
• Analyze and debug driver issues, reproduce customer problems, and provide verified resolutions.
• Document designs and development procedures.
