Job summary

The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, part of UW–Madison, seeks a Software Engineer/Developer IV to analyze, design, develop and support in-house applications and LIMS across labs.

Under the Director of Dev/Ops, you will lead development efforts, mentor staff, and advance CI/CD, cloud-based solutions, and secure coding practices; initial on-site training with later hybrid options.

Qualifications

• Experience developing Java apps using Eclipse or similar IDEs.
• Expertise with Oracle/SQL Server and advanced SQL.
• CI/CD pipelines and automated builds/deployments.
• Secure web application development and threat mitigation.
• QA/testing with test plans and scripts.
• Proven technical leadership and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Perform systems analysis and design documentation.
• Collaborate with analysts to build cloud-based solutions.
• Maintain and resolve issues in existing programs.
• Lead development teams on web apps and interfaces.
• Develop data interfaces and APIs.
• Provide cybersecurity reviews and remediation.
• Guide testing and CI/CD implementation.
