John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group in Urbandale, IA, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain a Python- and Scala-based data processing platform for data science workloads. You will own components end-to-end, enabling secure, observable cloud-driven pipelines.

You will collaborate with engineers and data scientists, contribute to internal tooling, and help adopt new tools with strong documentation skills.

Formación

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python skills, including library or API design, testing, packaging and dependency management.
• 3+ years of experience building and supporting production cloud-based systems, preferably on AWS.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containers (Docker), infrastructure-as-code and automation, with a DevOps mindset.
• Experience building internal tools, shared libraries or developer tooling used by other engineers or data scientists.
• Some exposure to Spark or other distributed data processing frameworks.
• A solid foundation in computer science fundamentals.
• Strong communication skills, including writing clear documentation and working with technical users.

Responsabilidades

• Build, test and maintain a Python- and Scala-based data processing platform, along with supporting libraries, SDKs, and CLIs.
• Build self-service tools and automation for CI/CD, environment setup, packaging and deployment, so that secure, observable and scalable choices are the default
• Own platform components from start to finish, from design through production support - this includes integrations with Spark, Databricks and data lake systems
• Work closely with the engineers and data scientists who use the platform to understand their pain points, gather feedback, write clear documentation and help them adopt new tools
