Job summary

Wellmark, Inc. in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Software Engineer (Open to hiring at Lead Software Engineer) to design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and document software solutions aligned with Wellmark's technology vision.

You will collaborate with the Technology department to ensure solutions meet requirements, accessibility, and usability criteria; participate in architecture discussions and support BizTalk integrations; preferred BizTalk experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field and 1 year of software development or 5+ years of related experience.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to gather information, research root causes, and propose implementations.
• Ability to communicate clearly and adjust style for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide development and/or production support for key software applications and systems.
• Define, analyze, estimate, develop, test, implement, document, and maintain programs.
• Collaborate with UX to improve accessibility and usability.
• Work to resolve technical problems for on-premise, cloud, and hybrid apps.
• Support information gathering and root cause analysis for optimizations.
• Propose solutions that align with project objectives and benefits realization.
• Identify issues and collaborate on resolutions with teammates and stakeholders.
• Communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders to enable decisions.
• Other duties as assigned.
