Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for Core Cryptography. You will lead the development of cryptographic infrastructure for global regulatory compliance, ensuring high availability and security of assets.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and partner with Security, Product, and Policy to drive flawless execution in a remote-first, hybrid work model with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering with distributed systems.
• Experience with cryptography, KMS or HSM, in security-critical environments (MPC preferred).
• Proficient in Golang, Java, C++, or Rust; Golang-heavy environment.
• Experience operating Tier-0 or critical infra with cloud IaC across environments.
• Experience managing complex projects end-to-end and mentoring teams.
• Generative AI usage with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own design, implementation, and end-to-end integration of cryptographic infrastructure for global compliance.
• Lead infrastructure setup, CD, and observability to prevent incidents and enable recovery.
• Drive complex integration challenges in a zero-trust environment.
• Promote engineering quality through code reviews, design docs, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Security, Product, and Policy to ensure flawless execution.
