Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Cloud Streaming Game Services team in Aliso Viejo, CA. This contractor role focuses on building and operating server-side applications for a globally distributed PlayStation cloud infrastructure.

You will design, implement, and maintain high-quality software, develop on Kubernetes, and collaborate with SRE and Platform Engineering to ensure reliability, performance, and maintainable systems across the stack.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating production software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems spanning software and infrastructure.
• Passion for building reliable, maintainable, and highly automated systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software powering the globally distributed PlayStation Cloud Streaming infrastructure.
• Build Kubernetes controllers, operators, and system services powering infrastructure lifecycle management and orchestration.
• Own features from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable code with comprehensive unit and integration testing.
• Partner with SRE, Test and Platform Engineering to deliver reliable production services.
• Investigate and resolve production issues with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design documents, and engineering standards.
• Effectively communicate technical approaches, project status, risks, estimates, and dependencies.
• Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate design, implementation, documentation, and debugging while maintaining quality.
