Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking engineers for the Cisco Secure Common Services Platform Engineering team. You will design and build core platform components, partnering with product management to estimate effort and plan sprints.

You’ll collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, develop POCs, and mentor junior engineers. The role emphasizes scalable, secure cloud-native deployments and AI/ML integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelors + 7 years of related experience OR Masters + 4 years OR PhD + 1 year in enterprise software production environments.
• 5+ years developing, deploying, and managing large-scale cloud-native web apps and microservices (Golang, Terraform, serverless).
• 3+ years building event-driven systems using Kafka, SQS, or SNS for async service-to-service communication.
• Experience integrating AI/ML solutions into software workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core components of the Common Services Platform and/or Solutions for scalable, secure cloud-native deployments.
• Partner with Product Management to understand requirements, estimate effort, and contribute to sprint/quarterly planning.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end functionality and align on integration points and infrastructure.
• Develop POCs and prototypes to explore ideas, validate approaches, or test performance.
• Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, review designs, and support career growth.
• Influence system design and guide implementation for high-quality, timely delivery at scale.
