Job summary

LexisNexis Risk Solutions' Flyreel Engineering team is seeking a senior software engineer to design and implement complex system components across multiple platforms. You will mentor junior engineers, translate user requests into robust software solutions, and help shape project plans in Agile or Waterfall environments.

You will work with cross-functional teams on data models, storage subsystems, and high‑quality code, delivering scalable applications for the insurance risk domain.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
• Strong proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques.
• Good understanding of normalized/dimensional data modeling principles.
• Strong knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems.
• Expertise in languages including Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and .Net.
• Strong research skills and knowledge in industry best practices in development.
• Knowledge of test-driven development and ability to complete complex bug fixes.

Responsibilities

• Interface with other technical personnel to finalize requirements.
• Write and review portions of detailed specifications for complex components.
• Translate complex product requirements into software designs.
• Implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
• Collaborate across environments (Agile, Waterfall) with stakeholders.
• Resolve complex technical issues and complete bug fixes.
• Mentor entry-level software engineers as directed by management.
• Stay abreast of new technology developments.
• Design and work with complex data models.
• Mentor less-senior developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.
