Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a senior software engineer to join an agile team building scalable digital applications. You will shape architectural decisions and drive implementation across the stack, from design to deployment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in full-stack development with React, Python/JavaScript, REST/GraphQL, and cloud experience (GCP/AWS). Strong focus on performance, security, and mentorship within an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5 years proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns for scalable, highly available systems.
• 5 years in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, ACE, IIB/ITX, Informatica).
• 5 years translating design mockups and user stories into working applications; experience with REST/JSON.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices: testing, code reviews, version control, CI/CD, security.

Responsibilities

• Design and write engineering specifications and code in line with standards.
• Generate and implement technical solutions to enable product features while ensuring scalability and performance.
• Participate in all scrum ceremonies, support sprint planning and timely completion of sprints.
• Create and manage tasks in RTC or Jira; update status and ownership.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture and code quality improvements.
