Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned software engineer to design and build scalable applications across multiple digital channels. You will contribute to architecture decisions, write robust code, and ensure performance while participating in all scrum ceremonies.

You will translate designs into working software using React on the frontend and Python with PostgreSQL/BigQuery on the backend, with familiarity in ML/NLP topics and distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
• 5 years proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns for scalable, highly available systems.
• 5 years in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, ACE, IIB/ITX, Informatica preferred).
• 5 years understanding of web services technologies such as REST, HTTPS, JSON.
• 5 years with general purpose languages (Java, Python, Django/Flask, C/C++, C#, JavaScript, or Go).
• 5 years defining system architectures and evaluating trade-offs for short-term execution and long-term capability.
• 5 years translating designs into working applications.
• 5 years writing fault-tolerant, efficient, maintainable code.
• 1 year working with ML, esp. NLP, MT, deep neural networks.
• Proven use of React frontend and Python/PostgreSQL/BigQuery backend.
• Strong background in asynchronous processing and messaging (Celery, GCP Pub/Sub).
• Solid CI/CD and deployment experience (GitLab CI/CD to on-premise, OpenShift, and GCP).

Responsibilities

• Build scalable software across digital channels to serve customers.
• Take an enterprise-wide architectural view of solutions and technical execution.
• Design and create engineering specifications for software applications.
• Write code adhering to coding standards and perform code reviews.
• Generate ideas and explore technical solutions to achieve features.
• Monitor technical progress and safeguard scalability and performance.
• Participate in all scrum ceremonies and assist sprint planning.
• Communicate blockers to the Scrum Master.
• Drive story creation (DoD, Acceptance Criteria, estimation).
• Monitor progress against production schedule and provide updates.
