Job summary

athenahealth in Boston is seeking a Senior Software Engineer at the Senior Associate level to design and build scalable, secure, and maintainable software powering athenaCollector’s revenue cycle management features. The role is based in Boston, MA as a hybrid position, collaborating across product, design, and operations teams and reporting to the Senior Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of engineering experience in a product development organization.
• Solid experience developing backend services in Java and Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, AWS EC2, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GraphQL, and Camunda or similar technologies is desirable.
• Hands-on experience with ReactJS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build software collaboratively on an Agile team with engineers, scrum master, product owner, architect, and designer.
• Own your work end to end and coordinate across teams to hit shared goals.
• Develop deep domain expertise in claims and RCM and share learnings with engineering and product.
• Turn clear specifications into well-tested, reviewable changes and push for sharp requirements upstream.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools to ship faster while ensuring correctness, security, and maintainability.
