athenahealth in Boston seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Senior Associate) to design and build scalable, secure software powering athenaCollector's revenue cycle management features. The role is hybrid in Boston, MA, with collaboration across product, design, and operations teams and mentoring for junior engineers.

You will contribute to end-to-end delivery, improve observability, and leverage AI-assisted coding tools while maintaining high standards for security and reliability.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of engineering experience in a product development organization.
• Strong backend experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, AWS EC2, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GraphQL, Camunda; ReactJS a plus; Agile development experience.

Responsibilities

• Build software collaboratively on an Agile team of engineers, a scrum master, product owner, architect, and experience designer.
• Own your work end to end and coordinate across teams to hit shared goals.
• Develop deep domain expertise in claims and RCM and share learnings with engineering and product.
• Translate specifications and acceptance criteria into well-tested, maintainable code; push for clear requirements upstream.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools to improve speed while ensuring correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Provide high-quality code reviews and focus on design and domain correctness.
