Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for BigQuery Search in Kirkland, WA. The role focuses on building high-performance search and analytics for large-scale data, with emphasis on distributed systems and enterprise-scale workloads.

• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Experience building a query processing engine for a SQL RDBMS.
• Experience building transaction processing systems (OLTP) or larger scale analytics (OLAP).
• Experience in one or more of the following:
  Search Infrastructure, Data Analytics, Database Internals, Machine Learning.
• High availability designs, parallel/horizontal scale-out database architectures.
• Passion for delighting enterprise customers, and an excellent understanding of enterprise workloads.
