Job summary

STR seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate advanced algorithms and software for autonomous platforms. You will lead a small team, contribute across the software lifecycle, and build tools for mission planning and CI/CD pipelines.

based in Woburn, MA, Arlington, VA, or Dayton, OH, with a flexible hybrid environment that supports remote work when not requiring STR facilities.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance.
• BS in Computer Science or related technical field with 5+ years of experience.
• 3+ years of experience with C++ or Java.
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and backend optimization.
• Ability to develop, implement, test autonomy algorithms and software.
• Experience leading small engineering teams (2–4 engineers) through Agile lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop autonomous platform software and algorithms.
• Test, integrate, and demonstrate software across lifecycle stages.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring in small teams.
• Develop tools for mission planning, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with internal leadership and external customers on plans.
