Job summary

STR is seeking an Autonomy Algorithms Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, and integrate advanced autonomous software for platforms. You will lead technical work across the full software lifecycle, mentoring a small team and delivering mission-critical algorithms for planning, control, and automation.

Based in Dayton, OH with a flexible hybrid/remote setup. You will collaborate with researchers to translate complex math into robust software and contribute to DevSecOps and CI/CD

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related technical field with 5+ years of experience.
• 3+ years of experience with C++ or Java.
• Full stack development with heavy backend focus.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and backend optimization.
• Not interested in Front end UI/UX or database management/interaction.
• Ability to translate mathematical concepts to software.
• Proven leadership in small engineering teams (2–4 engineers).
• Experience with code review, unit testing, test coverage, static analysis and best practices.
• Familiarity with Agile lifecycle tools (JIRA, Confluence, GitLab) and test-driven development.
