Job summary

MongoDB is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Atlas Clusters Organization in San Francisco. You will design and operate secure, distributed backend systems for Atlas, focusing on Encryption at Rest and customer-managed keys across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

You'll lead complex projects, ship features in production, mentor teammates, and participate in on-call rotations. A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in writing large-scale, distributed backend systems in a compiled language (e.g., Java, Go).
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Led the launch of a new feature and maintained it in production.
• Strong problem-solving attitude and curiosity, with excellent communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to mentor teammates.

Responsibilities

• Build and design new features for MongoDB Atlas.
• Contribute to and lead complex technical projects.
• Work with product and design teams from user perspective to craft solutions.
• Collaborate with customers and support to fix issues.
• Develop the codebase, best practices, and design principles with the team.
• Join on-call rotations to support Atlas production services.
