ELM Utility Services is seeking a Software Engineer IV to lead architectural decisions, shape scalable platforms, and mentor engineers across multiple teams. You will drive cross-team collaboration to deliver robust, observable systems that support critical workflows for public safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes ownership, system thinking, and leadership by influence, enabling modernization of production systems and improved operational excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale applications and platforms.
• Expert-level proficiency in modern software development practices and C#/ .NET.
• Deep understanding of API design, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and integration patterns.
• Strong experience with relational databases and SQL Server.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies and platforms such as Azure, containerization, CI/CD, and observability tooling.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, security, resiliency, and performance optimization.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum product delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale technical initiatives from concept through development and support.
• Provide technical leadership across teams to ensure architectural consistency and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers to raise technical capability and maturity.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Team Leads, Architects, and Executives to align solutions with business outcomes.
• Design and implement scalable, observable distributed systems and integrations.
• Drive improvements in SDLC practices, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and operational excellence.
• Champion best practices around performance, security, resiliency and maintainability.
• Participate in design reviews, backlog elaboration, and cross-team solutioning.
