Job summary

LabXchange is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a small, collaborative team responsible for designing, building, operating, and evolving LabXchange's software platform.

This hands-on role spans the full stack with a strong backend emphasis on architecture, production systems, and scalable services. You will independently own major features, mentor engineers, and help raise engineering standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent.
• Strong backend development experience with APIs and data-driven systems.
• Proficient in modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with Node.js or similar server-side frameworks.
• Experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL, and data modeling.
• Experience with AWS and containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Own major features and subsystems from design through production.
• Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data interactions.
• Lead architectural decisions and tradeoffs with the CTO.
• Contribute to production operations, including AWS, containers, and CI/CD.
• Design for reliable operation, observability, and secure data handling.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews and design discussions.
• Improve engineering practices around architecture, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Identify technical debt and opportunities to simplify existing systems.
