Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers to design and ship 3D interactions for Android XR. You’ll prototype, develop, and polish core UI components, collaborating with UX designers and product teams to balance Android Kotlin/Java and a high-performance C++ engine (Impress).

You will optimize rendering, workflows, and tools to accelerate iteration and ensure a delightfully responsive mobile XR experience across devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software development experience.
• 3 years of testing/maintaining/launching software; 1 year in design/architecture.
• Experience with 3D graphics, C++, game engines.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, develop, and polish foundational 3D interactions and UI components for Android XR, from concept to shippable product.
• Develop scalable systems to choreograph animations, motion, and audiovisual behaviors across the Android XR system.
• Collaborate with UX designers and product managers to define boundary between Android (Kotlin/Java) and C++ graphics engine (Impress).
• Optimize rendering and interaction runtimes for snappy UI on mobile XR hardware.
• Advocate and build new tools and workflows to accelerate iteration cycles.
