Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Software Developer to lead the design and development of an advanced Android XR system UI. You will work with cross-functional teams to build a next-generation user experience for XR glasses and companion apps, including setup, calibration, and OEM integrations.

You will set technical direction, prototype new experiences, and apply emerging technologies like spatial interactions and AI-powered interfaces to improve usability and comfort.

Qualifications

• 3 years of technical leadership experience.
• 3 years of cross-functional project experience in a matrixed org.
• Experience in mobile app development, spatial/3D app development, performance optimization, software architecture related to Android.
• Experience delivering mobile apps using Jetpack Compose, React, or Swift UI.

Responsibilities

• Propose projects and help validate product management direction and developer estimates.
• Design and vet systems across mobile and XR apps, and write code to solve ambiguous problems.
• Ensure launches are delivered on time and with high quality via testability and complex issue triage.
• Mentor the team with architectural oversight and provide documentation and OEM integration support.
• Support UX with rapid prototyping and developer feasibility analysis.
