Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior Mobile Engineer to lead consumer-facing mobile apps, driving Kotlin-based development and API integration at scale. You will mentor engineers, set best practices, and guide projects from design to delivery, collaborating with product, support, and leadership.

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent
• 8+ years' experience in Mobile Development
• Experience developing consumer-facing mobile apps at scale
• Strong Kotlin skills and multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Understanding of consuming GraphQL and REST APIs from mobile apps
• Strong testing practices and familiarity with testing frameworks

Responsibilities

• Deliver complete solutions across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations

• Deliver complete solutions across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations
• Advise immediate management on project-level issues
• Guide junior engineers
• Make technical decisions with little day-to-day supervision
• Lead engineering efforts and team-level processes
• Provide technical advice to senior leaders on systems, solutions, challenges, and strategy
• Promote technical standards, engineering best practices, and quality across Venmo and PayPal
• Determine technical tasks for other engineers

Requirements

• 8+ years' experience in Mobile Development
• Experience developing and maintaining consumer-facing mobile applications at scale
• Strong Kotlin skills and knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Deep understanding of consuming GraphQL and REST APIs from mobile applications
• Strong understanding of testing best practices
• Familiarity with at least one testing framework for Mobile Development
• Skilled at writing unit and automation tests
• Strong knowledge of common design patterns, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
• Expertise in MVC and MVVM design patterns
• Ability to understand and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
• Passion for mentoring and developing software engineers
