Job summary

Jobtailor in New York, NY is seeking a senior software engineer to drive end-to-end development of applications, mentor junior engineers, and provide guidance across teams. You will oversee design, development, testing, and deployment of software, ensuring scalable solutions and adherence to coding standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable experience.
Advanced degree preferred.
Knowledge of distributed systems, NoSQL, and relational databases.
Front end and full-stack development experience.
Experience in software design and automated testing.
Experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required; visa sponsorship not offered.

Direct end-to-end development of software applications
Mentor junior Software Engineers and cross-functional colleagues
Provide guidance and support to junior engineers
Direct the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications and systems
Oversee tasks, platforms, and technologies to expand new and existing software to meet changing requirements
Write automated unit tests to ensure correctness and stability
Provide technical guidance on best practices and coding standards
Monitor software performance and implement improvements
Analyze technical challenges and provide innovative solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration and deployment
Co-create with product and business teams to align technology initiatives with business objectives

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and/or comparable experience; advanced degree preferred
Knowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, NoSQL, and relational databases
Knowledge of the core tools used in the planning, analyzing, crafting, building, testing, configuring, and maintaining of assigned application(s)
Front End Software engineering and development experience or a related job
Experience in application design, software development, and automated testing
Experience in object-oriented design and coding with variety of languages
Experience in distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases
Experience in Agile software development methodologies and practices such as Scrum/Kanban, iterations, user stories
Experience in automation testing and documentation (i.e. automated, functional, and performance)
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
