OpenMined is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to lead the ScreamingFace squad, building the leaderboard for fusion models and the open toolkit for benchmark evaluations. You will set engineering standards, guide architecture decisions, and mentor teammates while delivering production software that scales in a distributed, open‑source environment.

This fully remote role is for candidates based in the United States, reporting to the Head of Engineering, and requires hands‑on coding,

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of professional software engineering with production systems at scale.
• Hands-on production software work with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor).
• Strong Python proficiency (3.12+).
• Experience in distributed systems and API design across teams.
• Technical leadership: introduced quality practices and mentored engineers.
• Comfort working in ambiguity with limited resources.
• Owns delivery with accountability and ownership.
• Asynchronous, clear written communication across time zones.

Aufgaben

• Own ScreamingFace squad architecture from design to deployment.
• Drive production readiness, monitoring, and runbooks.
• Mentor team, promote engineering best practices, code reviews, CI/CD.
• Define shared primitives and standard interfaces across teams.
