Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Software Developer to build tools supporting AI governance and program reporting for a large federal advisory program. You will work with Agile and DevSecOps practices across the full software lifecycle.

You will design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based components, build automated executive reporting and dashboards, and ensure accessibility and open data formats in all outputs.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with tool/dashboard development for enterprise clients.
• 3+ years in web application development with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#.
• Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the AI Resource Hub co-designed with client audiences.
• Design, develop, and deploy modular, cloud-based components for program tools and dashboards.
• Build automated executive reporting and dashboard tooling.
• Participate in code reviews and QA; automate unit and functional testing.
• Troubleshoot quality, security, and reliability issues; perform root cause analysis.
• Ensure tools are secure and align with cybersecurity and AI use policies.
• Use open data formats and APIs to support data export and interoperability.
• Apply 508/WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards to all tools.
• Document code, features, and user/training guides.
• Adhere to the program's AI use policy; avoid processing sensitive data without authorization.
