Job summary

DrFirst is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the eRx Enterprise and Gadget team, focusing on Gadget and expanding into Rcopia EPCS and PDMP workflows. You will build cloud-native Java services, scale, and ensure observability across a real-time prescribing platform connecting providers, payers, and pharmacies.

You will leverage AI judiciously to improve code quality, performance, and design, while guiding the team on when AI adds value and where human design leads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• 5+ years hands-on Java development with Spring (Boot/Cloud).
• 3+ years designing cloud native apps on AWS (S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS/ECS).
• 3+ years with distributed messaging like Apache Kafka.
• Experience building high performance distributed systems with low latency.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve Gadget, the DrFirst pharmacy agent, from design through production.
• Contribute to Rcopia EPCS and PDMP capabilities.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable Java integrations.
• Build cloud native microservices on AWS with auto scaling and observability.
• Develop integrations with major EHR platforms (HL7, FHIR, APIs).
• Build and maintain event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka.
• Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Define AI-assisted coding standards and ensure code quality.
