Job summary

PowerSchool, a world leader in cloud-based K-12 software, seeks a Senior Software Engineer in the United States to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software across the full stack. You will own complex features, mentor peers, and collaborate with cross‑functional partners to deliver high‑quality solutions.

You will apply modern engineering fundamentals, participate in code reviews, and responsibly use AI tools to boost productivity and code quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• Travel up to 5-10% for team events and conferences.
• Production‑grade software delivery experience.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
• Proficiency with modern software practices: version control, CI/CD, Agile/Kanban.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain software applications and services using TypeScript, Java, C#, Python.
• Own delivery of complex features with independence and sound technical judgment.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate needs into technical solutions.
• Contribute to system and solution design, including architecture and tradeoffs.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve coding, debugging, and testing efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure coding standards and security practices.
• Troubleshoot defects and performance issues across new and existing systems.
• Contribute to all SDLC phases from requirements to support.
• Support QA with unit/integration tests and AI-augmented testing techniques.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
