Job summary

Credit Acceptance in Bellevue, WA seeks an experienced software engineering leader to design and operate cloud-native Java 21 / Spring Boot services on AWS. You will drive spec-driven development, contract testing, and modernization of core systems while mentoring engineers and guiding AI-enabled delivery across multiple applications.

You will own architectural direction, oversee on-call rotations, ensure security and reliability, and collaborate across teams to align technology with business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience or comparable depth.
• Experience leading a team’s technical direction across multiple applications.
• Expert hands-on Java (17/21) and Spring Boot for production REST/services.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted delivery, spec-driven development and CI/CD.
• Cloud/native delivery on AWS; containers on Kubernetes; IAM and secrets management.
• Experience with API security, Pact-based contracts, and observability practices.
• Willingness to relocate or reside near Bellevue, WA or Bay Area hubs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and improve cloud-native Java 21 / Spring Boot services on AWS.
• Lead spec-driven development with automated tests and contract testing.
• Modernize Consumer 360 systems; migrate on-prem workloads to AWS.
• Write and maintain design docs, READMEs, and agent instructions.
• Mentor engineers and participate in talent selection.
• Lead AI agent design, evaluation, and governance with guardrails.
