Job summary

MO is seeking a senior software engineer to lead delivery of complex systems for government-related work. You will collaborate with product, design, and client stakeholders to translate requirements into robust outputs, review code for quality, and ensure accessibility and security.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, client collaboration, and applying AI to improve workflows, with a focus on compliance and delivering high-quality software across mobile platforms.

Qualifications

• 6+ years engineering experience in software development.
• Experience with the federal government and VA preferred.
• Proven ability to own complex technical work and deliver high quality software.
• Strong technical expertise in React Native, Ruby on Rails, Node.js, AWS, Bash, GitHub Actions, and test automation.
• Experience in software architecture, code/design reviews, and collaboration with product/design teams.
• Commitment to accessibility, privacy, security, and PII protection.
• Mobile development experience across iOS and Android and CI/CD testing workflows.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and grow engineering skills and practices.
• Strong client and team collaboration and growth mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, developers, testers, designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into outputs.
• Conduct code peer reviews to ensure quality and maintainability of React Native and GitHub Actions code.
• Fulfill Engineering Lead duties when needed and drive technical decisions.
• Ensure front end accessibility for screen readers and assistive technologies.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues.
• Build strong client relationships and advise on quality, accessibility, and risk.
• Communicate engineering approaches and risks clearly to diverse audiences.
• Align coding strategies with client objectives and constraints.
• Identify AI-enabled approaches to improve value, quality, or efficiency without compromising trust.
• Contribute to engineering practices, knowledge sharing, and sprint planning.
• Support growth initiatives and help evolve MO’s engineering methods and tools.
