Job summary

Motion Recruitment seeks a Senior Software Engineer to develop embedded firmware for an intelligent energy management platform. You will work across base and application firmware, hardware integration, and IoT connectivity on microcontroller-based products.

The role emphasizes hands-on development with Microchip/STMicrocontrollers, ARM Cortex-M, and RTOSs (FreeRTOS/Zephyr), plus embedded Linux Buildroot. Collaboration with hardware and QA engineers is key to delivering new and sustaining

Qualifications

• 5+ years in embedded firmware development.
• 3+ years in hands-on IoT systems development and debugging.
• Strong C/C++ and Python experience.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M, STM32, Microchip or similar MCUs.
• Experience with Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, UART or RS-485.
• Experience with an RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Experience with embedded Linux systems using Buildroot.
• Strong debugging with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.
• Experience in Agile development environments.

Responsibilities

A rapidly growing, private equity-backed technology company, is looking for a full-time Senior Software Engineer to develop embedded firmware for its intelligent energy management platform. Their technology connects and optimizes building systems to deliver energy, operational, and resiliency benefits for customers ranging from Fortune 500 companies and utilities to small businesses.

This is a hands-on embedded engineering role where you'll work across base firmware, application firmware, hardware integration, and IoT connectivity. You'll collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and QA engineers to architect, develop, test, and deliver firmware for microcontroller-based products using platforms such as Microchip and STMicro. The role covers both new product development and sustaining existing products.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development
• 3+ years of hands-on IoT systems development and debugging
• Strong C/C++ and Python experience
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M, STM32, Microchip, or similar microcontrollers
• Experience with Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, or RS-485
• Experience with an RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr
• Experience developing and maintaining embedded Linux systems using Buildroot
