Job summary

Norfolk & Dedham Insurance seeks a senior software professional to guide development initiatives, including Core Java, Guidewire integrations, and scalable architectures. You will lead design through release, mentor teammates, and collaborate with business units to optimize workflows.

You will partner with leadership to ensure reliable delivery, modernize systems, and stay ahead of industry trends while mentoring others to grow their technical skills and business knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• Demonstrated high abilities in Core Java development skills.
• 3rd party software integrations (REST APIs, SOAP APIs, XML, JSON).
• Building secure, performant, scalable software (APM tools, profilers, performance testing tools).
• CI/CD tools (GitHub, Bitbucket, Gradle, Maven, Artifactory, Nexus).
• Work collaboratively in an empowered, lean, cross-functional team.
• Technical leadership from solution design through release.
• Exert technical influence to improve the reliability of Guidewire products.
• Mentor individual contributors to help them grow technical skills and business knowledge

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, monitor, and implement system changes with deployment documentation and test environments.
• Meet with management for input on prioritizing strategic projects and communicate status.
• Mentor and coach the team to strengthen core technical capabilities.
• Lead as a senior engineer, promoting best practices and continuous learning.
• Monitor internal requests and vendor items.
• Analyze application functionality and suggest improvements to the software ecosystem.
• Update programs to fix errors and enhance functionality and diagnose issues.
• Coordinate and document business goals, requirements, and changes.
• Review user requirements for new software and document design, installation and training.
• Communicate progress and issues to the business stakeholders.
• Use analytical skills to improve business workflows.
• Provide clarity for development initiatives and identify potential problems.
• Document development best practices for future modifications.
• Collaborate with leadership to align development with business needs.
