Job summary

AspenTech is seeking a Senior Software Developer for our Advanced Distribution Management System team. You will lead design and development of real-time applications that help utilities monitor, control, and optimize grids.

The role emphasizes C/C++, APIs, and back-end work with a focus on scalable, safe software. We value collaboration, mentoring, and a passion for improving energy reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Applied Math, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years’ experience with back-end code, C/C++ highly desirable.
• A general knowledge of platform independent tools and libraries.
• Experience with APIs and daemon processes.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and at different levels of the organization.
• A passion for learning and working on complex problems.
• A strong desire to have a positive impact on the energy industry and help facilitate the energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mission critical distribution grid management related applications using C/C++.
• Collaborate with other developers, architects, and stakeholders to find creative solutions to the challenges facing our customers.
• Design and implement robust, performant, complex features based on requirements and user stories.
• Ensure design and implementation best practices are followed, including design reviews, code reviews, unit tests, etc.
• Facilitate the growth and development of other developers through coaching and mentoring on the technologies and processes used within the team.
• Provide technical support to product management, project delivery, and customer support.
• Investigate, diagnose, and identify solutions to software issues.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
