Security Benefit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead, to drive architecture for new annuity products. You will partner with Finance leadership, vendor teams, and internal platforms, setting direction and ensuring scalable, reliable solutions.

The role blends leadership with hands-on prototyping and occasional development, reporting to the Senior Manager, Platform Engineering. Hybrid work from Kansas or Des Moines is supported.

Qualifications

• Experience providing architectural oversight of vendor platforms and integrations.
• Track record running vendor evaluations: due diligence, build-versus-buy analyses.
• Experience owning a product/platform roadmap and quarterly planning.
• Experience with release management and test automation practices.
• Knowledge of full-stack cloud-native architecture and guiding design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions.
• Own solution architecture for vendor and internal platforms.
• Guide design decisions with vendors and internal teams; avoid implementing every detail.
• Automate manual processes at seams between vendor systems and internal platforms.
• Document processes, integration behavior, and define future-state architecture and roadmap.
